Jaffna came alive to the sounds and colours of marching bands, tramping feet, festive banners and buoyant balloons, as Commercial Bank’s Savings Fiesta stimulated the capital of the northern peninsula on Saturday, 15th June. Senior corporate management of Sri Lanka’s largest private bank actively participated in the events, which included a Savings Walk by staff, an inter-school band competition at the Alfred Durayappah Stadium, the release of balloons in the Blue and White livery of Commercial Bank, and the presentation of gifts to customers who opened new accounts. At Killinochchi on the northern mainland, the Commercial Bank branch organised an art competition for children in support of these activities. The principal objective of the Savings Fiesta is to promote savings and create an opportunity for the Bank to generate greater awareness of the many products and services it offers. The Commercial Bank has renovated 39 lamp posts lining the road to the historic Rangiri Dambulu Vihara at Dambulla, revisiting one of its community projects of 15 years ago. The Bank originally built the ornate lamp posts in 1998. A recent inspection conducted as part of the Bank’s commitment to sustaining its projects, revealed that the lamp posts were in need of repairs and repainting.
