Offers limitless cash transactions and extended hours

at unique in-mall facility

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has chosen Bambalapitiya as the location for a unique Holiday Banking Centre with extended working hours and no ceiling on transaction values.

To be located on the third floor of the Majestic City mall complex, the new banking outlet to be inaugurated on 27th April will stay open from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm on most days of the year, including public, bank and mercantile holidays, and will cater to corporate, trade and retail customers, the Bank said.

The Bank’s ‘MiniCom’ supermarket banking counter on the ground floor of the complex will continue to operate on all days that the host supermarket stays open, offering deposits and withdrawals of up to Rs 200,000.

Our research indicates that there is demand for higher transaction limits and extended hours, which will be provided by the second Majestic City counter,” Commercial Bank’s Deputy General Manager Operations Mr. Sanath Bandaranayake said. “It will substantially enhance our presence in the Colombo West area, and raise the bar in terms of service to our customers.”

Besides the Commercial Bank’s ‘MiniCom’ counter at Cargills Food City at Majestic City, the Bank’s customers in the Bambalapitiya area are also served by two other branches, at Milagiriya and at Thummulla.

The new Holiday Banking Centre at Majestic City is modelled on a similar facility set up by the Bank at the Kandy City Centre complex, which is the only other bank counter in Sri Lanka to offer limitless extended-hour banking on a 360-day basis.

It will offer unlimited withdrawals and deposits, issue of Pay Orders, issue of local drafts, issue and encashment of travellers cheques and foreign currency notes, collection of inward remittances (e-Exchange and Moneygram) and opening of current accounts in addition to the routine facilities available at the Bank’s outlets.

The extensive parking facilities available at the complex would be an incentive for many customers located outside Majestic City, but the new counter would also be a boon to the many businesses located within the complex, Mr. Bandaranayake said.

The Majestic City Holiday Banking Centre would be linked to Commercial Bank’s 175 other branches and supermarket banking counters and its 360-strong ATM network in Sri Lanka, offering customers the full benefits of seamless IT integration that is one of the key strengths of the Bank.

Ranked second among all corporates in the latest Business Today rankings, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC has been adjudged Sri Lanka’s ‘Bank of the Year’ seven times by ‘The Banker,’ ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 12 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine, and ‘The Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ by FinananceAsia. It has also been rated ‘Best Local Trade Bank’ in Sri Lanka by the UK based ‘Trade Finance’ magazine.
