Customer FAQ Guide – PayPal Integration with ComBank Digital

What is PayPal and what new service is available?
PayPal is a globally recognized digital payment platform used to securely send and receive money online internationally. ComBank now allows eligible customers to securely link their PayPal accounts with ComBank Digital app to withdraw funds directly to their Commercial Bank account

What do I need to know before linking my account successfully?

To link your PayPal account, you must ensure that:

  • Your email address matches between your Bank records and PayPal.
  • Your Date of Birth matches on both platforms.
  • Your PayPal account is registered in Sri Lanka.
  • You are using a Personal/Individual PayPal account, as Business accounts cannot be linked currently.
  • You are withdrawing to an LKR Personal/Individual account, as foreign accounts are not eligible for withdrawals.

How do I link an existing PayPal account?
  • Log in to ComBank Digital and click "View all my accounts".
  • Scroll to the PayPal section and click the "Connect" button.
  • Toggle the consent switch on the email authentication prompt to share your email with PayPal, then click "Confirm".
  • Enter your existing PayPal credentials.
  • Review the permissions and click "Agree and Connect".
  • Look for the PayPal Linking confirmation notification; your balance will now be visible on the “My Portfolio” screen.
Can I link my PayPal account through the ComBank Internet Banking facility?
No, the PayPal linking feature is not available through the standard internet banking website. This process can exclusively be completed via the ComBank Digital mobile app.
How do I withdraw funds?
  • From your Portfolio, click on your PayPal account and tap "Withdraw".
  • Select your destination account and enter the USD amount you wish to transfer.
  • Accept the Terms & Conditions and click "Submit".
  • Review the confirmation screen showing the exchange rate and approximate LKR amount.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your registered contact to authorize the transaction.
  • Please note that once a withdrawal is submitted, PayPal cannot reverse it
What if my Bank email and PayPal email are different?
You should log in to the PayPal website and add your Bank registered email address as a secondary email on your PayPal account, then try linking again. If it still fails, ensure your Date of Birth exactly matches the Bank's records
Can I move funds from a foreign PayPal account to my Sri Lankan one using the app?
No, ComBank Digital does not provide functionality to link or move funds between different PayPal accounts. The integration only enables the withdrawal function from your Sri Lankan PayPal account to your Commercial Bank account.
Who handles disputes or chargebacks?
Disputes, claims, and chargebacks are handled directly by PayPal under their policies. Customers must contact PayPal Support directly for assistance with these matters
How can I disconnect my PayPal account?
Navigate to the PayPal account view in ComBank Digital and click "Disconnect". Enter the OTP sent to your mobile and confirm. Be aware that disconnecting means you will lose the ability to view your balance or withdraw funds through the app

Never share your passwords or OTPs. Always use official apps/websites, keep your contact info updated, and contact the Bank immediately if you notice suspicious activity.
