Commercial Bank of Ceylon commenced its operations in Bangladesh by acquiring the banking business of Credit Agricole Indosuez in November 2003 with 02 branches & 02 booths.
Since commencement, CBC has established its position well above the other Regional Banks operating in the country expanding the branch with 08 in Dhaka (Motijjheel, Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Uttara, Pantopath, Mirpur, Tejgaon), one each in Chittagong, Sylhet & Narayanganj, 2 specialised Off-shore Banking Units in Dhaka (Gulshan and Chittagong -CEPZ) and 6 SME Centres in Old Dhaka (Dhaka), Progati Sarani(Dhaka), Shantinagar(Dhaka), Tongi (Dhaka), Jubilee Road(Chittagong) and CDA Avenue (Chittagong).

Further CBC Bangladesh Operations has been rated as AAA by CRISL for 11 consecutive years.
Commercial Bank of Maldives (CBM), a subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Ceylon and a joint venture with Tree Top Investments Maldives, inaugurated its banking operations in the Maldives in 2016, with the opening of its Head Office and the 1st Branch in the Maldives in capital Malé and subsequently the 2nd Branch in Hulhumale’in its second year of operation.

The second fully owned subsidiary of Commercial Bank, CBC Myanmar Microfinance Company Ltd. (CBC Myanmar) was opened in Nay Pyi Taw on 16th July 2018. CBC Myanmar will offer group loans to customers who require microfinance facilities.
